Spanish container glass manufacturers reported a combined turnover of EUR 650M (US$805.8M) for 2004, ANFEVI (Spanish Association of Glass Container Manufacturers), announced 31 May 2005. For 2003, sector companies reported turnover of EUR 625.9M (US$775.9M). Of the 2004 total, EUR 582.67M (US$ 722.3M) were generated on the domestic market, up 2%. Exports were mainly to France, Portugal & Italy. Over six billion items of glass packaging were sold, while two billion were recycled. In 2004, each Spaniard bought an average of 151 products in glass bottles or jars. ANFEVI represents over 98% of the glass container industry in Spain. Its members include BA Vidrio, Saint-Gobain, Vidrala, O-I and Vidrieras Canarias, which together run 14 plants with a total annual production capacity of 2.2 million tonnes and workforce of over 3,000.
