The Anelastic Behaviour Of Glass During An Impact

After having defined the resilience of rebound of materials the author described measurements of this characteristic in the case of glass subjected to impact by a cold steel ball in the temperature range 0-1000 degrees C. The short time of contact allows the elastic and anelastic effects on the glass to be studied beyond the softening point.
