Analysis Of Soda-Lime Glass By Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy

The sample is dissolved by acid-pressure decomposition using a fluoroboric acid-boric acid matrix which is then analysed for Si, Al, Fe, Ca,Mg, K, Na and Ba by atomic absorption and flame emission spectroscopy. The procedure is reliable and rapid, uses a small sample (0.1000g), and does not require expensive instrumentation such as X-ray spectroscopy.
