All-Electric Forehearth Developments

In a two-part article, the author considers the design advances & benefits of all-electric forehearths for both volatile & non-volatile glasses. Part one focuses on the conditioning of volatile glasses, with an emphasis on fluoride opal & borosilicate, while also looking at ancillary systems that can be included in a new or existing forehearth design to further benefit the overall conditioning process. Part two of this article will be published in the Jan-Feb/2011 issue of Glass Worldwide.
