Aiv: Closure Of Le Mans Plant

French glass and window manufacturer AIV et Cie (AIV), a unit of Belgian glass major Glaverbel, is to close its plant in Le Mans, western France, and move production to its existing plant in Fougeres, northern France. 34 employees will be affected by the closure. AIV has been loss-making for the last two years. The company registered an EUR 726,000 net loss in 2003 on turnover of EUR 17.9M for the period. Glaverbel has decided to centralise AIV's manufacturing activities at the company's larger plant in Fougeres, which employees 110. AIV announced it will offer jobs in the Fougeres plant to workers from the Le Mans site.
