Activities And Solubilities Of Ferrous Oxide In Melts Formed During The Immobilisation Of High Level Nuclear Waste

The solubility of ferrous oxide is suggested as a relative or semi-quantitative measure of oxygen anion activity in oxide melts. To support this proposal, experimental determinations of the activities and solubilities of FeO for melts consisting of glass frit PF798 and high level nuclear waste (HLW) at various HLW/glass ratios were conducted by employing an electrochemical technique incorporating zirconia as solid electrolyte.
