Action Of Lead-Glass Melts On Tin-Dioxide Electrodes

Corrosion tests on tin oxide electrodes in glasses with lead oxide contents ranging from 24% to 85% showed that to achieve acceptable electrode life when melting glasses with lead oxide contents greater than 70% the melting temperatures must be reduced to 850-900 degrees Celsius and, preferably, dense electrodes with grain sizes above 30-40 microns should be used.
