3R - Recent Developments In Denox Control

In response to tightening environmental and legislative pressures, Pilkington has developed a unique technology for the reduction of NOx emissions from most glass melting furnaces, including float glass. The technology, called "3R" has been successfully demonstrated on several types of glass furnace, ranging in output from 500 to 5000 tonnes/week. This paper outlines both the theoretical and practical aspects of this patented technology and compares it with the main alternatives - selective catalytic reduction and oxy-fuel firing.
