Schott has inaugurated 12 new production lines at its pharmaceuticals packaging arm Schott Form Vitrum to make a new range of glass ampoules called TopLine. New manufacturing equipment and techniques have been introduced at the firms factory at Pont-sur-Yonne in France, the group's competence centre for ampoules. The equipment includes a new generation of devices for the one point cut breaking system; a laser controlled monitoring system to ensure specific ampoule dimensions (stem regulation system); and a high precision forming machine. All the new production equipment has computer controlled monitoring systems for complete quality assurance as well as a high technology statistical process control system. This allows for detailed documentation of the ampoules produced, which maybe tailored to customer requirements.
