100% Oxy-Fuel Firing: The Real Story

Many companies are presently considering 100% oxy-fuel firing of glass melting furnaces. The most recent conversions in Europe, North America and Southeast Asia have been driven by both environmental regulations and the need for increased production. Virtually all segments of the glass industry in the US have now implemented 100% oxy-fuel combustion technology. This paper describes Combustion Tec's experience in various segments of the glass industry for design and implementation of Primefire oxy-fuel technology. To begin, experience has given valuable insight in how a converison affects the various personnel throughout the glass plant. This paper identifies some of the issues for those planning to convert.
