Earlier this month British Glass accompanied members of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) team on a visit to the Ardagh Group’s Barnsley facility.

The visit was a good opportunity for British Glass to provide DEFRA with an insight into the glass manufacturing process, cullet usage and concerns about DRS.

Representatives of Glass Recycling UK were also present at the meeting alongside Director of Operations at Ardagh John Passant and Plant and Added Value Director Steve Wood.

Victoria Adams, Senior Communications Officer at British Glass, said:

“This visit was a great opportunity both for us and one of our members to spend vital time with key government officials to talk about a number of topics, including the proposed Deposit Return Scheme and Environment Bill.

“We look forward to continuing to engage with DEFRA with and on behalf of our members on the political issues affection the glass sector.”
