The industry is spread throughout the country and employs thousands of people making it a vital economic force that has a crucial role to play in the prosperity of the UK. And like many other manufacturing industries the UK's glass sector is competing in tough international markets. One of the key roles of British Glass is to represent the views of all the different sectors that make up the UK's glass industry. As part of that role we are constantly lobbying politicians and civil servants at local, regional, national and EU level to consider the impact of legislative changes on the industry.
