Rebecca Cocking
Recycling Manager
Rebecca's primary role is to develop policy in relation to UK and EU recycling / waste legislation for lobbying.
In this role she advises Members of changes to current legislation, liaises with key decision makers within DEFRA, DTI and the Treasury; and represents Members' interests regarding emerging legislation.
Rebecca is Secretary to three British Glass committees - Container Group, Public Affairs Committee and Market Research. She assists in developing strategy and implementing policies on behalf of industry.
She also represents Members' interests with a number of other organistions / parties including WRAP, FEVE, Packflow, Local Authorities and the Packaging Federation.
Theresa Green
Information Officer
Theresa Green is the key point of contact for British Glass members who have a technical query. With access to a vast number of databases and library services, Theresa provides information to members free-of-charge.
She produces a quarterly publication, the "Digest of Information & Patent Review" from which members can order technical articles and abstracts free of charge, or non-members on a subscription/one-off basis. Theresa also provides bespoke research services.
As well as providing access to a myriad of standards, both UK and international, Theresa is also the custodian of the British Glass library and archives, the only dedicated library on glass technology.
Dave Dalton
General Manager Glass Technology Services
Dave heads GTS in its two main operating areas of consultancy and analytical and data services.
He also provides consultancy to major companies such as Marks & Spencer, acts as an expert witness in personal injury claims, oversees the stack team who monitor emissions from glass manufacturing plants and advises companies on the appropriate duty of care regarding issues such as land contamination.
In addition Dave is responsible for overseeing the work of the glass technologists who resolve manufacturing and other issues throughout the whole glass supply chain, from manufacturing companies to consumer.
John Stockdale
Environmental Manager
One of John's key roles is to increase members' awareness of the importance and potential impact of forthcoming environmental issues and providing technical and legislative advice.
John maintains links with regulators and government departments and, working with industry members, he develops sector policy on environmental issues, co-ordinating industry response on relevant UK and EU consultation.
As secretary to the Environment and Energy Committee and its Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) Working Group, he was closely involved in the negotiations leading up to the final Climate Change Negotiated Agreement.
John also represents the interests of British Glass on many other UK and European working groups and committees and where appropriate also acts as an environmental consultant or expert witness in his own right.
Philip Marsh
UK Industry Health & Safety Manager
Phil provides advice and consultancy to members on all aspects of Health & Safety.
As health and safety manager, he sits on the Health & Safety Committee updating members of changes to
UK and European legislation. In addition he chairs the safety, training and occupational health sub-committees and various indirectly related industry regional committees.
Phil is also responsible for leading the GLASS Charter, an industry-wide initiative to reduce health and safety incidents by 30 per cent by year 2010; as part of this he provides members with regular H&S newsletters and e-briefings, together with industry wide best practice guidelines on both health and safety issues as they are developed by British Glass.
